The aim of the VerCEB project is to meet contemporary research expectations connected with discussion on climate and environmental changes. My aim is to work on climate dynamics and biodiversity changes in the Verdon basin (Var, Alpes de Haute Provence) for the last 50,000 years and connect these environmental dynamics to prehistoric human habitats and human evolution (Neanderthal and Sapiens). In order to do so, I aim to develop mollusc analysis in archaeological and natural sites, based on taxonomy and taphonomy of mollusc assemblages. In the future, I plan on initiating isotopic studies of land snail shells, which are entirely novel in the region, to better reconstruct ancient climates.
