Cultural encounters are a force for cultural change, and translators play a crucial role in this operation. We know the considerable impact that Arabic and then Latin translations of Greek texts had in the Middle Ages, but we cannot reduce these exchanges to one or two channels of transmission: all ancient languages and cultures benefited from the contributions of other literatures (Persian, Arabic, Hebrew, Demotic, Greek, Latin&#8230; and the Latin, Germanic or Slavic vernacular languages) as a reward for their linguistic hospitality. This issue intends to emphasize the linguistic and cultural issues of this service of translation and learned mutation which take various forms, from technical bilingual lexicons to translations or adaptations of scientific treatises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Contributions for this issue sent to the editorial staff of RursuSpicae will be peer-reviewed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Version fran\u00e7aise:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La transmission des connaissances s\u2019op\u00e8re \u00e0 la fois dans le temps et par l\u2019espace. Les rencontres culturelles sont un acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur de mutations culturelles, et les traducteurs jouent, dans cette op\u00e9ration, un r\u00f4le capital. On sait l\u2019impact consid\u00e9rable qu\u2019eurent au Moyen Age les traductions arabes puis latines des textes grecs, mais on ne peut r\u00e9duire ces \u00e9changes \u00e0 un ou deux vecteurs de transmission&nbsp;: toutes les langues et cultures anciennes b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e8rent, pour prix de leur hospitalit\u00e9 linguistique, des apports des autres litt\u00e9ratures (persane, arabe, h\u00e9bra\u00efque, d\u00e9motique, grecque, latine\u2026&nbsp;et les langues vernaculaires latines, germaniques ou slaves).
