Akshyeta Suryanarayan

Post-Doctorante – STEP, Fyssen Foundation
My research interests focus on the identification of organic products in ceramic vessels and how these might have been procured, processed and stored, or used in long-distance exchange across ancient societies. My doctoral research focused on characterising what products were processed in vessels from settlements in the Indus Civilisation, South Asia’s first urban civilisation. My current project examines what organic products were used in local and imported vessels in sites of the Arabian Peninsula. It also aims to investigate the spatial and knowledge networks that facilitated the movement of organic products along with exotic pottery.
